Welcome to the Oasis.

 

In this site, I face some of the questions that continue to bother me even after writing books about them. 

 

In a corner of one of his Tahiti paintings, the French artist Paul Gauguin wrote:

 

“Where do we come from. What are we? Where are we going?”

I add “How shall we behave on our journey to our destination?”

 

I add this because I think I see much suffering all around me. Some suffering is unavoidable, but beyond the daily toll of life I see much that I call Evil. Some revel in it and profit from it. Some tolerate it. Some try to oppose it but Evil seems to prevail. 

 

The cast of characters I have created come to their realization of Evil in different ways and challenge it in different ways—they take the prayer, “deliver us from evil,” personally. These are things I hope to go on exploring.

 

I also see much good, much joy, all around. 

 

I see our lives something like those of salmon. We navigate rough waters and many dangers as we make our way to our final destination.
