Barnard Ardglass lives with his wife in Forest Hills, New York City. He was born in County Donegal, Ireland. There he learned early lessons on fact and fiction in politics and religious teaching. He is aware that buried in today’s fiction we may find some of tomorrow’s facts. He knows the importance of balancing exploration of the unknown with understanding of the known. Friends helped him to see the unity of  nature even if much of that unity is still imagined—the imagined life is at least as important as the physical life. He has lived in four countries long enough to pay income tax, and in three of them long enough to vote in general elections. He has experienced monarchies and liberal democracies. He has experienced medieval pomp and modern reversion to autocracy.
